Our History

The South Baltimore Neighborhood Association was founded in 1985 by a group of dedicated residents who recognized the need for organized community engagement. What started as informal neighborhood gatherings has grown into a vital organization that serves our historic Baltimore community.

Over the decades, SBNA has successfully:

  • Established neighborhood watch programs that have improved community safety
  • Advocated for improved street lighting and road maintenance throughout the area
  • Organized community events that have become beloved neighborhood traditions
  • Worked with Baltimore city government on traffic and infrastructure issues
  • Built partnerships with local businesses and service providers
  • Provided residents with important information about city services and resources

Today, SBNA continues to evolve while staying true to our founding principles of community engagement, civic participation, and neighborhood improvement.
